Question

Opening jpeg in Photoshop

Good afternoon, my Graphic Designer is experiencing the following issue:

When trying to open a jpeg file in Photoshop directly from our server network. The usual method is double click on the file and it opens in Photoshop. I get a disk error message and then Photoshop stops responding and I have to relaunch it.

It works fine if I drag the jpeg to my desktop and open in Photoshop from there.

I am using OS Monterey  (screen shot 3) and Photoshop 2022. I had this problem with OS Catalina as well. The rest of the Creative Cloud apps open fine from files on the server.

With thanks, Paul

Working directly off a server is not recommended and has never been supported by Adobe. They specifically warn against it, and this is exactly the kind of thing that can happen.

What type of server is this. Do a command I on the server icon and post a shot or let us  know if you are conecting SMB: or AFP:

What happens if you rename the ,jpeg to .jpg, I find .jpg to be more stable. Try dragging the image to the phtoshop icon in the dock. Do a commadn I on any .jpg on server, what program  is it set to open with?
