Opening raw files for a second time adds suffix.
Hello,
Opening raw files for a second time adds a suffix and another and another. The only way I have found to stop this is by quiting Photoshop before opening a file again. This usually happens when I open a raw file process it in Adobe Raw then open it in Photoshop, convert it to a different size then look at the file and find it too dar or bright or colourful, whatever it is I want to overwrite that file and mostly I do that with an automated action, which will overwrite a file, but only if that file has the same name.
It's really annoying, more though if I send files to image libraries who then want a file with that exact name to be uploaded. For that I will need a larger file so on reopening the file weeks later the suffix is gone and I will have to edit filenames manually to change the name.
There seems to be too much handholding and safety precautionsto make sure that nothing will ever be lost. But especially with a raw file settings are preserved in XMP files so what is the point. There seems to be a lot of firefighting in these last versions of Photoshop.
I am using Photoshop (Beta) 25.1.0 on a 2023 Apple M2 MacBookPro running Sonoma and sometimes I was better off with my 2015 MBP runing Photoshop CC
