I am trying to use an overlay I purchased, when following the instructions I can only get to file then place embedded, I select the overlay and then I get an error that says could not place because source rectangle is empty. Has anyone experienced this? What have you done to correct this?

I have followed the instructions on the website. I also am trying Place Embedded. That is when I am getting the error.

I wonder if the overlays are PNG files? Some PNG files black out if dragged onto an existing document.

Is there any reason you don't want to use Place Embedded?

I have, they sent me the instructions, was seeing if anyone else has had the same issue.

You seem to be asking what others (maybe Adobe or others on this site) were doing about "correcting" it.

This is what Luxelen state on their website:

How to Install Overlays in Photoshop?
Since an overlay is simply an image that is layered on top of your photograph, overlays do not need to be installed. Rather than installing, save your overlay to a folder on your computer so that you can easily find them when you are ready to apply overlays.

    How to Use Photoshop Overlays?
Applying overlays in Photoshop is a simple process. First, open the image where your overlay will be applied. Then, open your selected overlay and resize it to match your primary image. Copy and paste the overlay onto your image, then, toggle to your primary image and go to Edit --> Paste. For more detailed instructions, see our guide, how to install Photoshop overlays.

I haven't done anything to correct it, I purchased the overlays from Luxelens

If you look at the quotation marks you'll see I'm quoting you!

So don't you think you should ask Luxelen?

"What have you done to correct this?"

    – what do you mean, where did you buy this "overlay" from?
