Pen Tool

Question

Hello CommunityI'm searching for a tutorial/lesson on the Pen Tool that goes beyond a beginner. I've gotten fairly profecient making a selection of a sneaker. I need instruction on working within the 'paths' module and creating numerous selections, cutouts and converting to masks. I've included an attachment of a lighthouse and I want to change the gray color to red and white.Thanks

Three things to keep in mind:

• Unless the Mask needs varying degrees of softness a Vector Mask (with Feather set in the Properties Panel) might suffice.

• Outright switching to the Add Anchor Point Tool, Delete Anchor Point Tool, Convert Point Tool is generally unnecessary when using the Pen Tool because hovering over a Path, a Point, alt-clicking can achieve the same thing.

• Keep an eye on the Path operations in the Options Bar – if some subPathItem does not add or subtract as you want them to check and change the setting there.

Edit: To add on the importance of Path operations: By using »Combine Shapes« one need not create one outline over everything but can create multiple subPathItems that »work together«.
