Pen Tool and Line issues

I've just updated Photoshop and found two serious issues

Firstly once you've saved a path you can't then go back and edit it as the pen tool will not pick up the endpoint, it just draws points with no connecting path. This is a SERIOUS problem as I now can't do my job if involves paths at all.

Also the ability to draw a line in path mode and give that line a thickness seems to have been removed. I use that feature constantly when creating paths around items such as spokes in a wheel so this has severely messed up my work flow. Is there any way to set the line tool to what it was before?

The first issue is a bug and has been acknowledged. You can work around it by creating a workpath, even a single point will do, then you can switch to your saved path and edit it.

For the second, set it to shape, adjust the stroke thickness and make sure that stroke is set to centre or outside. If set to inside it will not show.

Hi Dave

So as long as there is a work path, the path I’ve saved will be editable? I’ve rolled back two versions in creative cloud now so hopefully that’ll be fixed by the nest update.

As for the second point, It appears that you have just removed a valuable feature. I don’t want a shape. What I need is to draw a line, as a path, and have it make an editable path of a set thickness like it used to. i.e like a long rectangle. If for example I am creating a clipping path around a bicycle wheel I would usually use that method to draw the spokes and them combine them. With the new tool that just doesn’t work so adds loads of time to a job.

Cheers

Yes to the first, maintaining a workpath will make the saved path editable.

On the second, I have done nothing. Like the others who answer on this forum, I am a Photoshop user, I don't work for Adobe 🙂
