Pen tool [HowTo question]

Hello everyone. I'm rather newbie in Photoshop and would like to ask you for some help how to use a pen tool.
I have a photo of a cube with 3 sides being visible and need to create very precise (pixel perfect) masks that will be applied to each of these sides later on. There can't be any gap in between masks, nor they can overlay. I thought to use a pen tool to draw 3 closed paths and trim them one by another (like I do with objects in a vector graphic programs). Can it be done? If not, what is the alternative method/tool to create these kind of precise masks?
I will appreciate any help. Regards

I would draw each side as elements of a single path (start each at a non overlapping point). That way you can use the direct selection tool (white arrow) to align the edges & corners exactly.

Save that path then create three new empty paths in the paths panel.

Go to the combined path and use the black arrow to select one of the elements and use Ctrl+C to copy it.

Switch to an empty path and use Ctrl+V paste it.

Repeat for the other two.

Now you have a saved path for each element which you can use to make vector masks as required.
