Pen Tool not creating shape

Hi,

 

I am trying to trace a sewing pattern to use in my cricut. I've traced the shape, but it won't turn into an actual shape (even when I select the shape option under Pen Tool). I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong... how do I make that traced shape into an object?

You either have to select Shape from the Pen Tool tool options before usung the Pen Tool to create a

Shape Layer or use Path and after drawing out your paths, click on Shape in the tool options bar or go

to Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Color or from the bottom of the Layers panel Add Adjustment Layer

icon select Color Fill.
