Photo Shop - Windows

Question

Hi All, Can someone explain in beginner terms how I can resize a photo? In addition can someone walk me through the easiest way to cut out the background of a photo so you can see just the object? The object is tricky because it is a machine and is not a straight square/rectangle.

Hi

If Select > Object doesn't work, then do this:

use the Pen tool to draw a path around the machine
In the Paths panel, convert the Path to a selection
In the Layers panel, create a layer mask to hide the background
Save in a format that supports transparency and layers, such as .psd or .tiff
