Photos look different in Ps than they do in LrC

Hello..

 

I am noticing that when I edit a raw photo in LrC and then choose to edit in Ps that the same photo in Ps has more noise. I have tried changing the "External Editng" settings in LrC and the "Color Settings" in Ps to see if that would fix the issue. I changed them to be sure that the "color space" is the same in each. I also changed my Win 10 Color Management settings to match my external model. Nothing seems to help much.

I am also trying to figure out the defualt settings in "External Editng" settings in LrC and the "Color Settings" in Ps so I can start over as I read that you don't need to change these settings to fix the issue. Problem is that I can't find any way to set them back to default. Nor can I find screenshots of the defaults (after numerous searches).

So my problem is twofold. One I want my photos to look the same once I open them in Ps and two, return the above settings to their defaults. Any solutions to one or both issue would be much appreciated.

I am using Ps 22.5.1 and LrC 10.4

You can only view noise accurately at 100% zoom. At lesser zoom levels, pixels are being combined and averaged before any compositing. In addition Photoshop switches to 8 bits/channel at less than 66.7% zoom and for a final difference, LR uses dither to avoid banding. So always compare at 100%

In LrC I am viewing it in Develop. Having said that I see at 100% the photo looks very similar in both LrC and Ps.

 

What confuses me is that in Develop at a smaller size I have the photo the way I like it. At the same size in Ps it still looks grainier.  I will try the cahe suggestion and see if that helps.

    Thanks Dave. This might explain a lot. For awhile now I have been unhappy with my photos once I opened them in Ps. I couldn't figure out how they could look so different. So how does one edit then if they look so different? Even at 50% in LrC it looks considerbly better than in Ps at a much smaller size. Do I have to keep enlarging my edits in LrC after every change to see what it looks like? Even then I would have to move the photo around to see the whole image one part at a time. This seems very time consuming way to edit. Any thoughts?

    Are you viewing the images at 100% in both PS and in Lightroom Classic's develop module? (Library is a preview and not as accurate as the Develop module and viewing in PS - and - 100% view is the only accurate preview for noise, sharpness, etc)

     

    Is it crazy noisy in Photoshop? Try setting cache levels to 4 and reopening your images: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/noise-photoshop-cc-images.html
