Is it just me? 12.0.4 is markedly slower than earlier versions. Slow to load, slow to change tools, slow to Alt-select colors and Stamp source, slow to invoke Export As. It's also crashed few times, not often.

  • Windows 10, 64-bit
  • AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X
  • 16-core, 64GB RAM
  • Photoshop RAM Usage 41365MB

Hi

You mention "slower than earlier versions" judging by that I would assume 12.0.4 is a typo and you meant 20.0.4 which is the most recent version of Photoshop CC, if that's the case we can amend the title and text for you

If you look at the OP's content history it's clear they are using the Creative Cloud, guess we won't know for sure until the OP replies

CS5 is old if it is slow on you machine try resetting your Photoshop preferences Adobe will not be making any changes for CS5. Is this a new machine or has CS5 suddenly become slow on you machine? If its operation has changed on your machine what else has been changed on your machine? I would think CS5 should perform very fast with that hardware SSD Nvidia Graphics and AMD 16 core processor.  64GB of RAM may be a bit of overkill.  What are you doing that Photoshop is using 41GB of ram.  It Windows 10 task manager is showing PS is using 41GB of RAM?
