Photoshop 2017 and Wacom Pressure Sensitivity error

Hi there.

I am absolutely desperate to get my pressure sensitivity function of my Wacom tablet up and running again on Photoshop. It literally just stop working at once and despite all my attempts and spending hours on forums reading and tried numerous solutions to get it to work again, I failed.

Some info and history.

I am working of a relatively new Dell i7 windows laptop.

I replaced my hard drives with 2 brand new SSDs about 2 weeks ago.

I did a clean Windows 10 pro installation.

I did a clean Photoshop CC 2107.1.1 installation.

I use a Wacom Intuos Pen & Touch medium CTH680 Tablet.

I started off with newest Wacom Drive: WacomTablet 6.3.22-5

I didn’t use my backup preferences for the Wacom, I decided to setup all from scratch. All worked well for two weeks, until yesterday 3 hours into editing, boom, my pressure sensitivity warning sign on Photoshop Brushes came on and couldn't recover it since.

So, did the following:

  1. Added the Text file named PSUserConfig.txt with content ‘#Use WinTab UseSystemStylus 0’ under the following directory, C:\Users\[My User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PhotoshopCC 2017\ Adobe PhotoshopCC 2017 Settings  Nothing.
  2. With the aforementioned text file set to ‘0’ tried switching the Window Ink tick box on and off under the Wacom preferences under the Mapping Tab…. Nothing. Every time before I made a change, I closed PS, made the change and then go back into PS. Nothing.
  3. I then went and disable Windows Ink in the windows setting with various combination from the above steps… Nothing. I set the Windows Ink setting back to the way it was.
  4. I uninstalled the Wacom driver and replaced it with Version WacomTablet_6.3.15-2 Nothing. I repeated steps 1-3 with new driver and still Nothing happened.
  5. I then stepped up the Wacom driver version to WacomTablet_6.3.15-3, followed steps 1-3 and nothing changed.

-Throughout all of these processes, I restarted my laptop a million times in the hope that is will reset something.

-I also tried plugging my Wacom tablet into difference USB ports going through all the steps above and below and that also didn’t change the status.

-I also cleared my Wacom Tablet preferences a few time and started of fresh to see if that makes a difference. That also didn’t work.

6. Starting to get frustrated, I uninstalled my PS CC 2017.1.1 and did a complete clean installation. I tested the Wacom tablet before importing all my user created PS preferences and brushes and it still doesn’t recognise the pressure sensitivity.

After the clean PS installation, I tried steps 1-5 again…. nothing

And now I am clueless.

Any fresh ideas from what I already tried? Except a new laptop or tablet…..

Hi there, this might be a bit of long shot and a really obvious thing that you've already checked, but I too thought that I had lost pressure sensitivity in Photoshop CC 2017 using an Intuos 3 (Mac).

After spending some time uninstalling/reinstalling drivers etc and updating Photoshop I realised that the issue was simply that for some reason, Photoshop had removed all pressure sensitivity settings, even from the default basic brushes set. So, for each brush I have had to manually go to brush settings/Transfer and set control to pen pressure.

I could swear I never had to do this with any previous vs of Photoshop and pressure sensitivity worked by default but that's was happened for me.

Hi EBoss,

You may uninstall the latest driver for Wacom tablet and install the little older drivers and check if that helps.

Also, refer: Photoshop CC 2017 Update many issues with wacom intuos pro tablet

Check with Wacom I had issues and they gave me a number of an older driver to use that worked fine, I have never updated as it still works ok.
