Photoshop 2020 - Data Set - Pixel Replacement Issues

Since upgrading to PS 2020 on my Mac - my external data set files that substitute in a different image (Pixel Replacement variable) have all stopped working and will give the error "Replacement file not found" when trying to apply/preview a new image. I also have PS 2019 on my Mac and the exact same files work without issue so obviously something has changed between versions.

After a lot of trail/error, I found that PS 2020 no longer will accept just a filename for the Pixel Replacement variable (even with the file is in the same directory as the template PSD file). The only way I can get the data set to work is to supply the full path to each of the files. This is fine but I have LOTS of external data sets that would each have to be updated with the full path to the replacement image.

I have looked in Preferences for a feature flag to "re-enable local file access" or such but I haven't found anything. Does anyone know a way around this terrible change?

Thanks,
TB

Same problem with PS 2020 on a PC (Windows 10). Too many hours spent sorting this out (eventually just rolling back to older PS version). Adobe needs to fix this.

I'm having the same issue but even updating the data set source file with the full path to the image doesn't work! I can manually replace the image for each data set but that defeats the purpose of using variables.

I have the same issue. 😕😕 Would be cool, if someone can help us.

I'm not sure if its a terrible change or not. What version of macOS do you have? Adobe has deprecated fs references for scripting on Mac, I wonder if this is related?

Can you make pathname changes with a script in Excel? That would be my first attempt at a fix.

I am on Mac Catalina (10.15.1). Yes, I can update the Excel files that I use to import the data sets into Photoshop - but that is what I was trying to get around (as I have lots of these files). I was just hoping I could use the same functionality in 2020 that I was able to in every previous version of PS.
