Photoshop 2020 freezes every 10-15 minutes on Catalina

That's is terrible. Simply impossible to work.

Photoshop ramndomly freezes showing beatch ball.

I just got off a chat with Adobe for the same issues. They are telling me to get a hold of Apple to "clean my Catalina CPUs." I've had nothing but trouble with Photoshop 2020, I went back and forth with Adobe regarding the Lighting tools which were not working, after 6 weeks they finally fixed the problem. Do you see anyone from Adobe addressing this current problem in this thread? They never want to speak in clear language, "yes, we have a problem here and we will fix it as soon as possible."

Just an observation: pleased to see they've done exactly that last week with a specific Hue/Saturation bug just discovered in Photoshop 21.1.3 on Catalina.

Yes, it would have been nice it they'd picked it up in testing but all software ships with bugs. Some are more glaring than others. This one affects many people. While we wait for a fix, they've offered workarounds in the link above.

The issue with bugs is supplying specific detail so they can be identified by the engineers. Giving Adobe specific hardware configs and version numbers (operating system and software) and reproducible steps so they can see the issue for themselves. Fixes often (but not always) come swiftly then.

There's a similar freeze in Color Balance.

I'm seeing a pattern of users experiencing the same issues related to color and PS 2020.

Please post your issue to the bug report forums. It is monitored by the PS Team.

Just to say - -on a brand new iMac I too am getting constant freezes and hangs in Photoshop 2020 working with a very simple file... very irritating, this definitely doesn't happen with the same file on photoshop 2020 on my other older iMac running 10.14... grrrr...

What OS version are you running where it freezes?

What are the specs? HD space, RAM, working from external or network drive?

Have you run the latest Photoshop Update for Catalina? Also if its freezing consistently every 10-15 minutes, have you tried turning off the background save in your preferences?

Yes I do. Everything ois up–to–date. No I haven' tried, but I have noticed most of the time dead freeze happens on changing a colour or working with gradient

It now had frozen twice within 5 minutes of designing....

How to download and instal previous vertion?

To install an older version, go to the Creative Cloud app and click the ellipses on the bottom right of the Photoshop app.

Choose "Other Versions" to install that last version of Photoshop.
