Question

Photoshop 2020 not saving the images with Shift-Ctrl-E-S combination

I just uppadted PS to 2020 and notice a,for me, a pretty drastic change whwn saving RAW or JPG images. Under the previous version after finishing my changes I would press Sht-Ctrl-E-S and Photoshop would flatten the image and then save it. Now when I do the same thing I get a message that Layers will increase file size. I now have to go to the Layer tab flatten the image and then save it. That is a whole lot of work as I edit hundreds of pictures for my wife and myself and now I have to do an extra step on EACH and EVERY picture. This is stupid and I hope I have just missed something.

Also Shift+Ctrl+E is the shortcut for "Merge visible layers"  not flatten If there are layers with the visibility off the document will still be layered. You can change that shortcut to be assigned to "Image Faltten" which has no default shortcut. Shift+Ctrl+S is the the default shortcut for "Save As".   Shift+Ctrl+E+S is two shortcur Shift+Ctrl+E  merge visible followed by Shift+Ctrl+S  sane as when you keep Shift+Ctrl pressed.      You could assign a shortcut to Flatten like Shift+Ctrl+Q which is free and then use Shift+Ctrl+Q+S instead of Shift+Ctrl+E+S.

Hi there,

As Photoshop is not simply saving the file after flattening the layer. Could you please let us know the version of Windows you're on?

I can replicate the issue at my end. Would you mind trying to restore the preferences of Photoshop and see if it helps? https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html

Note: Make sure that you back up all your custom presets, brushes and actions before restoring Photoshop's preferences. Migrate presets, actions, and settings

Regards,
Sahil
