Photoshop 2020 opens then freezes on Windows 10

Photoshop 2020 (just updated) will open just fine and then it won't operate. I can get the 'create new' window to pop up but I cant make a selection or actually open a new document. Nothing happens when I click on anything. I can however click on things in the top menu (file, edit, image, etc...) and I've read some other threads and made some modifications to my preferences but nothing seems to fix the problem. I've also cleared up space on my computer (surface pro 3 running Windows 10). Pls hlp lol thanks
