Hi,

I use photoshop and illustrator from my external hard disk. I have a 2013 macbook air on which everything works perfectly, but i prefer using my macbook pro for these applications. When I open photoshop and illustrator i get to see a black screen. I also use premiere pro but no problem with that.

I have tried every possible solution suggested on here but nothing helps. I installed and uninstalled, tried installing on internal drive, tried reseting preferences, disabling gpu,  using creative cloud cleaner tool, installing older versions. Nothing helps and im really stuck here.

System I use:

Macbook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)

2,3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5

8 GB RAM

ntel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB

running MacOS catalina version 10.15.1

Photoschop version 21.1.2

Hi there,

Sorry that Photoshop 21.1.2 is only showing a blank window and on your Macbook Pro running macOS Catalina.

As you've mentioned that you've tried almost all the basic troubleshooting steps, would you mind checking these steps:

Ensure that UXPLogs.txt has read/write permissions:

If UXPLogs.txt is Read Only, the Welcome Screen and New Document dialog will not display correctly. navigate to ~/library/logs/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop 2020/UXPLogs.txt

Drag UXPLogs.txt to your desktop and restart Photoshop.

Note: To navigate to the above location on macOS, you must access the hidden user library files. See Method 2 in this article to understand how.

Disable the Home screen/New document windows

If you do not use the Home screen or the new New Document dialog, you can disable them.

Go to Edit (Windows) / Photoshop (Mac) > Preferences > General.

In the Preferences dialog, select the Use Legacy New Document Dialog and deselect the Auto-Show the Home Screen option.

Rename the UXP folder:

Rename the UXP folder to ~UXP.

Control-click the Adobe Photoshop 2020 application and select Show Package Contents. Navigate to Contents⁩/Required⁩/⁨UXP⁩

Let us knowhow it goes.

Thanks,

Akash

Hi Akash,

Thank you for you reply. Tried everything you said, but still shows a black screen when in launch photoschop. Also the UXPLogs.txt file you mentionedis is a .log file on my computer.

Is there a chance it might work if i deleted everything from adobe on my computer and re-intstall it?

Thank you
