Photoshop 21.2 - Editing photos in layers in Photoshop isn't working through Lightroom Classic

I recently updated Photoshop and Lightroom and now it is LrC. When I select two photos to edit as layers in photo shop instead of opening up in Photoshop as layers they open as two diffferent photos and one of the photos has a second layer that is grey and doesn't open. Is this a bug in the update?

Hi there,

 

We're sorry about the trouble due to Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. Would you mind telling us which operating system are you using? Have you tried to re-install both apps to check if that helps? If not, please try that and check if it helps.

 

Please ensure you have all available operating system updates are installed on the computer. You can also try resetting the preferemces of both apps to check if it helps.
