Photoshop (22.0.1 20201106.r.73) hangs opening or saving on Windows 10

This has been driving me nuts and making Photoshop unstable at times.

When I go to open or save-as a document the dialog window stops working. Sometimes it doesn't even draw the full thing. Sometimes it loads the current folder and everything fine but it doesn't allow interaction.

Sometimes in the same session with Photoshop, I'll be able to open a file or save-as a file just fine but then ten minutes later it doesn't work.

The only way I can get the open or save-as dialog to respond again is to haphazardly force End Task or force End Process Tree one to all of the multiple Adobe CEF Helper.exe, Adobe Spaces Helper.exe, or AdobeCollabSync.exe. Eventually, after doing that I can open or save again half the time. The other half of time I have to force close Photoshop.

I'm guessing those helpers are phoning home to Adobe. Could y'all stop that and let me just save locally like I've done the last 20 years?

You should check that your machine meet the new requirements for photoshop 2021 and your GPU is still supported and all systems and devices drivers are up to date. Reads Adobe published know  issues  in photoshop 2021 and follow their trouble shooting advice. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/known-issues.html#ps-desktop
