Photoshop 22.5.1 slow to launch on Windows 10

Since the latest update, Photoshop has become extremely slow to launch.  What used to take just a few seconds now takes 35+.  The splash screen displays immediately but once loading gets to "Done Sorting Font List" it hangs for about 30 seconds before proceeding.  Once loaded, app performance is fine.

I tried:

  • Disabling "Use Graphics Processor" (in Preferences | Performance).
  • Skip loading optional and third-party plug-ins (by holding Shift at startup).

Neither of these helped.  The loading always hangs at the same point for about 30 seconds.

Anyone else start seeing this behavior recently?

Thanks for the suggestions.  I installed Photoshop 2022 (23.0.0) today and have the same issue with the new version (i.e., 30 second hang when splash screen shows Done Sorting Font List).

Resetting Photoshop's preferences as suggested, doesn't help, however, when reset, the splash screen hangs on either "Reading brushes..." or "Reading preferences..." instead of "Done Sorting Font List" (seems to be about 50/50).

Resetting the CameraRaw preferences had no effect.

Deleting the font cache had no effect.
