Photoshop 24.3 crashing when opening files (Persistent bug from 24.2)

24.2 already exhibited the Bug where it crashed when opening files, whether it was via Bridge or Finder (in macOS) or by dragging the files to the dock symbol of Photoshop.

The same bug is still there in 24.3.

 

Reverting back to 24.1.1. fixes it but it's very strange that this keeps happening and doesn't get fixed.

    Thanks for the info @CMB_photosnapper your M1 looks fine and good HD space available for scratch disk - one thing to check,  in Apple System Settings/Security and Privacy/Full Disk Access and making sure LR, Bridge and PS are listed and active.

    If it is - have you tried resetting your prefs for the 24.3 version just to be safe? If something corrupted, upgrading wouldn't solve it - it just updates the corrupted preference.

    Thank you, @Kevin Stohlmeyer - after using "Reset Preferences after Quit" in Photoshop 24.3 I was able to open files again!! 

    Very strange that that was the reason for all the trouble, so thanks again for helping me so quickly! 

     

    The reason why I had not tried that earlier was that I had not changed any settings in 24.3 and 24.1.1. was working without any issues, but it's good to know that can be a cause for troubles and I'll keep it in mind for the future!

      Thanks for the info @CMB_photosnapper your M1 looks fine and good HD space available for scratch disk - one thing to check,  in Apple System Settings/Security and Privacy/Full Disk Access and making sure LR, Bridge and PS are listed and active.

      If it is - have you tried resetting your prefs for the 24.3 version just to be safe? If something corrupted, upgrading wouldn't solve it - it just updates the corrupted preference.

        Hi @Kevin Stohlmeyer !
        I'd love to but I had to downgrad to 24.1.1 to continue working, I can't afford to have a faulty version installed.
        But I sent the crash report(s) with my email attached so at leas that should get somehow connected to my account and hopefully get fixed with 24.4.
