Photoshop 24.5 seems unstable.

Hi, today, I noticed regular crashes when starting PS 24.5 with last Nvidia Studio drivers (535.98) under windows 11. Anyone aware of a stability issue in this configuration ?

PS crashes when opening a file (psd or else) some seconds after that et just after selecting any tool.

Beta version seems to have the same kind of issue.

GPU is compatible - Nvidia 3060 RTX. Driver installed on May, 30th, PS versions installed a week-end ago, this is why I suspect a compatibility issue. Any thoughts or issue reported ? thanks.

I've not yet tried NVidia driver 535.98 but have a very stable system here using the previous Studio driver v531.61 on an RTX3090.

If you do decide to try the previous driver, during installation choose Advanced, then Clean Install. That should remove remnants of the current driver. I also recommend you do not install the GeForce Experience software which is aimed at gaming rather than Studio use.

I had a probelm with PS 24.5 and 535.98.  I rolled back to 531.61 and it went away.

Did you roll back?  Have you subsequently updated to the latest?  I'm still on 531.61.

Hi @davescm ,

I'll try that, good point for the driver version. I had no (noticable) issues with the same configuration and what has been changed recently is the graphic driver. I'll provide a feedback once done. Thanks for your response.

Hi @davescm ,

Rollback of NVIDIA drivers is done and OK, Photoshop now as stable as it was. Thanks all for your feedbacks and ideas.

When Photoshop crashes, this is the first thing to do, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

This action only affects the items found in the preferences dialog box. Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Photoshop Preferences file, including general display options, file-saving options, performance options, cursor options, transparency options, type options, and options for plug‑ins and scratch disks. Brushes (and lots of other setting) are not affected by the above instructions for deleting preferences. You may wish to make a screen capture of the settings in the Preferences dialog to reset them prior to deleting of this file.

If that doesn't fix the issue:
Go to Preferences > Performance..., uncheck Multithreaded Compositing, and restart Photoshop.
Still crashing?
Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Still, crashing?
Go to Preferences, Settings>Image Processing, and try changing the "Remove tool processing" from "Faster" to "More stable." Still, Crashing?

@TheDigitalDog Hello,

Thanks, I'll try this after restore the previous graphic card driver, as it seems to be the only change I did in the last days. But I'll keep your inputs and link as a valuable information. Thanks for your time.
