Photoshop ancient version with ancient graphic card -> blue screen

The card is detected, but it's not supported.

Photoshop now requires DirectX feature level 12.0, but your GPU only has feature level 11.0.

The feature level is a measure of the card's actual physical capabilities, what it can do. It's a hardware requirement, not a software requirement. This is not something you can update to.

This requirement has been in force some time, I believe before version 22. So I think you would need to go further back in Photoshop history to find a PS version that worked with that GPU.

As I had uninstalled Photoshop 22.2 : before to select dedicated graphic card for Phostoshop and Sniffer, I had installed the last version of Photoshop (25.9).

The result : by opening Photoshop, we can see at the blue arrow that the Nvidia graphic card is detected for Photoshop :

I have also gone in Photoshop/Preferences/General and selected "Reset preferences on quit". So now, the preferences are reset.

I have just gone in Nvidia Control panel, and for "Photoshop.exe" and "sniffer.exe", I have selected "High performance Nvidia processor" (instead of the integrated graphic card). 

By uninstalling Photoshop, it seems that I have no more blue screen.

This is a common logical trap 😉 It only happens in Photoshop, so it has to be Photoshop causing it.

The fact is that in modern operating systems, applications cannot cause blue screens or hard system restarts. It's not possible - there are sandboxes and insulating layers to prevent that. An application can crash or freeze, but not bring down the whole system.

What actually happens is that Photoshop triggers it, by initiating calls and functions that cause the other component to fail. But the fail is in the hardware/driver, not Photoshop.

A GTX 950 is already very old and underpowered for newer PS versions. But the most urgent problem here is probably the fact that you have dual graphics. You might try to disable the Intel HD 620 completely, and try again. See section 6 & 7 here:

When installing, go to Custom > Advanced and then select "perform a clean installation"

By uninstalling Photoshop, it seems that I have no more blue screen. But I need to use Photoshop. 

My laptop is up to date (for Windows update, and also for Lenovo vantage update). And if I make an automatic update on my graphic card drivers, it indicate me that "the best drivers for your computer are installed".

@pierret18811376 BSOD are usually caused by either buggy drivers or failing hardware or a combination of both
