Photoshop and Lightroom auto enhancing

When importing a RAW photo into Lightroom Classic or Photoshop, I am noticing that the image colors change from the original when in develop or edit. This also happens in Microsoft Photos App, auto enhancing. From what I can tell, there is no way to change Auto enhance off in the photos app, but why is this occuring in Lightroom and Photoshop? I have noticed that the integrity of the original photo remains when importing a JPEG photo, but how do I maintain original integrity for RAW files? Are there color setting in either one that I do not have set correctly? Thanks.

There is no problem to fix.

There is no such thing as an "original" image with raw files. What you see on the camera LCD and initially in Lightroom, is the camera-processed jpeg preview. That's a complete raw processor, equivalent to Lightroom/ACR, in the camera firmware.

Then after a short interval, Lightroom has had time to render its own previews, based on what you have as default settings in Lightroom.

The difference is that the camera processing is fully automatic, with pre-programmed parameters, and you have no influence over the result. You just have to accept the manufacturer's decisions.

A raw file, as the sensor records it, is not a useful image. You wouldn't recognize it if you saw it. It is monochrome, no color, very dark, very flat and tonally compressed. Color is reconstructed in the demosaicing in the raw processor.

Camera processing and Lightroom/ACR processing are two very different processes and there is no intention to match visually, nor any practical purpose. Lightroom/ACR only presents a default, conservative rendering, a starting point for your own decisions about how the image should look.

Then maybe the lightroom settings are not what I want them to be?

What settings would cause the rendering to add a great deal of red and magenta colors?

Hi there,

Sorry that you're the colors of your raw image in the Develop and the Library module is not matching in Lightroom Classic CC.

Lightroom "Develop" module renders the image and shows you the expected or actual image preview. The two modules use a different color space and the only accurate preview is within Develop module at 1:1(zoom) or greater.

Calibrating your monitor will definitively make difference to the way images look in both modules. Here's more details on this Why is there a Significant Color Shift between Develop and Library Modes?

Before we start troubleshooting it, I'd recommend that you please take a look at this discussion Develop module & library module aren't matching and let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Akash

I followed the instruction to setting Display color profile to sRGB, this did not change the color shift between the Library and develop Modules. This same color shift occurs when viewing photos with the Windows 10 Photos app.
