Question

Photoshop auto-update attempts & fails & program uninstalls itself

At least once a month I go to open Photoshop & it is gone, no icon in the start menu, Photshop is gone from the right click "Open with" pathway & double clicking on existing psd files just opens a "which software would you like to use..." dialogue.

When I open Adobe Cloud, Photoshop is at the top with "Update Failed" & a "retry" button where the "open" button would normally be.

Often is the case that an attempted "retry" will result in several long processes which again culminate in "Update Failed" before it will finally update & reinstall itself.

Anyone have any idea what is happening here? I can't find any other situations like this described by anyone else.

I am using a PC with Windows 10

I would start by turning off auto updates in the Creative Cloud preferences.

Normally when I see this with a user, they do not have enough available HD space for the installer to run.

The process for updating could remove the existing then install the new. If it runs out of space before completing, it may have removed without the install.
