Photoshop background removal poor results

I use the same photo in Photoshop on Windows and ios and the Photoroom ios app (latest verions of each). Photoroom removed the background perfectly. Photoshop missed "obvious" portions of the background. 

I used a few different photos for further testing with the same results. 

This is really surprising to me, and pretty disappointing. 

Has anyoen else noticed this?
