Photoshop behaving weird when dragging group into destination file

Hi community

Im dragging and dropping a group into another destination file, and for some reason, a locked layer in the destination, is becoming active and losing its smart object, just becoming like a normal layer again. has anyone experienced something like this before?

Thank you.

When you drag a layer group between two files, Photoshop tries to maintain the layer properties, including smart objects. However, sometimes a smart object becomes a regular layer, especially if some properties don't transfer correctly between files. This can also happen if the destination layer is locked or if the target file has different settings for handling smart objects.

Hey, @Stefan Cargoski. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share a video of the issue along with the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > Upload and attach here. If possible, share a sample PSD document that behaves as reported to me via direct message at my profile.

Also, please test and confirm if the issue exists with Photoshop (Beta). You can get Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section.

Thanks!
