Photoshop Brush Lag - Tired of Deleting Settings Folder

As the title says, the brush in Photoshop lags to the point of being unusable. I am able to resolve the issue by deleting the settings folder as suggested by this forum post from October 2017.

After deleting the settings folder, the brush tool works as expected, but the issue typically returns after 3-4 days.

As the fix seems to only be temporary, I am getting very tired of deleting the ENTIRE settings folder as there are many files within the settings folder that I want to keep and therefore have to move over.

Correct answer Ar_Vue

Do you have the brush smoothing setting to 0% or 100%? Too high and the brush will lag.

Check the Performance tab in Preferences and make sure "use Graphics Processor" is checked.

Bob, that makes about 10% difference with the Mixer brush.

Okay Trevor, that tells us we are looking in the right place.

Next go to the Navidia site and download the latest drivers and / or reinstall them.  Restart then go back into that section of PS prefs and check the advanced button on Graphics processing.  Check all these boxes:

Can you give us a few clues?

i.e.  Mouse or tablet?  If tablet, which one?

Document size if it makes a difference?

Brush size?

Brush spacing?

Is this the paint brush, or Mixer brush?  The mixer brush uses a ton more system resources.

Just anything that might help.  I use Windows 10, and I don't have brush lag.

To give you some context.  30,000 pixel square image with 5000 pixel fully hard brush with 1% spacing.  216 seconds with the mixer brush. 25 seconds with the Paint brush.

Trevor,

When the lag occurs, it happens with both the mouse and wacom tablet, input device does not seem to make a difference.

Document size is 1024x2048. Brush lags for new documents with a single layer, so it doesn't seem to be a file size issue.

Brush size/spacing does not seem to effect it, I'm using the basic round and soft brushes with their default settings.

I can take screenshots of the info panel once I return to my computer.
