photoshop can't control printer profile

When I print something using my own profile or Epson profile using photshop controls color it looks bad. It works when printer controls color. Color mode is off and greyed out so I don't think its double profiling. Please help Thank you

agree, you need a good printer / paper profile. unless you plan to do that a lot and if you are are in the US, I suggest you use a service provider such as the well respected www.chromix.com to make the profile for you

I wanted to update on a few items because this has turned out to be more complicated. I have been on phone with Epson and Adobe a bunch and it looks like an Adobe issue that they are researching.

1) I can print correctly through other applications like Apple photo so it is a photoshop issue.

2) It seems like photoshop is not locating my printer driver correctly from wherever it is.

3) Initially when I talked to Epson they found that my profiles were in the wrong place in library and we moved them to right place so it seems like an issue of the software not finding the correct driver info.

4) the fact that the abiltity to turn the color mangagement off and on box is greyed out is an issue.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

In my experience (many hundreds of printers profiled) Photoshop contols colour will always win the competion for acurate appearance IF the profile there used is accurate and the correct media is selected in the driver.

Sadly those symptoms seem to suggest a bad printer profile, if Photosop manages color is beaten by the manufacturer's inbuilt profile (which is automatically selected in the print driver SW, when you use "printer colourmanagement" and select the relevant media type)

Thank you, I suspect that may be the issue, but was suprised how far off it strayed. I hadn't used the printer in a few months so maybe the inks have settled and changed but was hard to believe that much. I had someone profile my papers so I either will have that done again or get my own profiler.

Did you remember to set the printers setting not to manager color. You do not want you images to be double profiled. Did you heed the warning in Photoshop Print dialog,

Yes, I am aware of that and checked it. In fact when I choose Photoshop manages color and choose my own profile or Epsons profile below the color mode box on the printer setting page says no color management and is greyed out. I notice the only way I can toggle the "no color management / option is to set it to printer manges color in which case the options for Color Sync and Epson color controls become available. If I choose Color Control and use my profile or Epson it wont let me print because it says mismatch. Does that make sense?
