Question

Photoshop CC 2015 3d - push one object against another, but hide??

Hi, I'm doing some 3d work in photoshop CC2015, and my question is; I would like one object to interact with another without it being seen (invisible). Say I have a ball and have a smaller ball (invisible) pushed against it. I want the impression left behind in the large ball. But I can't figure out how to do this. Can anyone help.

thanks

Does it have to be done with 3D tools? If the particular details allow, you could possibly use the trick of using layer styles with Fill Opacity set to zero, so you see the effect, but not the layer contents.

In that case you have two 3D layers.  You need to Select both Layer and merge that into a single 3d  Layer so they will bein the same 3d space.  here I merged a Sphere, a cylinder and a ring.  Sized positioned textured animated and saved and animated gif.

You can alsi use bump maps and opacity maps.

Hey, thanks for this. But lets say I want to add an impression into a Globe, say like the deathstar (attached). The only way to achieve this  is to create a bump map?

In Photoshop, mesh manipulation is limited, so within this program your alternatives are a bump map or normal map

Alternatively you could go to a full 3D program and manipulate the mesh.
