Photoshop CC 2015 conflicts with large HOSTS file: CPU THROTTLING, LAG

FYI: im not here to ask for help..

im pretty tech-savy and discovered a flaw in Photoshop 2015.

dnssd.dll is the culprit.

it's a DNS module developed by Bonjour.

this module conflicts with large HOSTS file. (1 MB or larger. ie. mine is 2 MB)

- constant CPU throttling

- lag

- renders Photoshop useless

NOTE: Blocking Unwanted Connections with a Hosts File

- if anyone is familiar with using the HOSTS file to block Ads, Tracking Beacons.. these symptoms will be familiar.

- they are exactly the same symptoms when DNS Service is enabled with a large HOSTS file.

- which is why HOSTS providers ALWAYS recommend disabling DNS Service.

now.. Adobe will probably blame this on the user for messing with the HOSTS file.

but blocking with the HOSTS file is pretty common.

Hosts is an override file (overriding DNS lookup), it shouldn't be very large at all.

And disabling DNS is crippling on the modern internet.

Somewhere you've gotten some really bad advice about using the hosts file, and disabling DNS.

No, creating a large hosts file and disabling DNS is not common - because that is a really, really bad thing to do if you are going to be on the internet.

ur incorrect.

the HOSTS file is another form of protection against Tracking Beacons, Malware, Ads, etc.

ie. http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

i use HostsMan.. i update my HOSTS file weekly.

it diconnects Malware, Tracking Beacons, Ads at the source, preserving Bandwidth, and increases Surfing speed.

If you read that page.. you'll notice it says: "Disable DNS Service".

this is a known issue with people who use HOSTS files.

FYI: CC 2014 does not have this problem

- in fact.. i've reverted back to CC 2014.

Were you seeing this same issue in 2014?

Some features in prior versions also rely on Bounjour, although there are a couple new/modified features that use it in 2015 (Export Assets, Device Preview, etc).
