Photoshop cc 2017.0.1 displays the message "no open document!" if data is in buffer — OSX 10.10.5

(Yosemite 10.10.5)

PS beginning status: in Dock, but not currently active in memory.

If I right-click on a file>Open With>PS, PS displays the "no open document!" message. Of course there is no open document; PS is not running.

The exclamation mark makes the message seem to indicate an error condition has occurred. Or at the very least, PS is telling me something I already know.

The message is a nuisance. PS should just open; perhaps the warning message should be, "data in buffer - continue to New Document dialog?"

A related question: PSCC2017's New command has become much slower than in previous versions, especially when attempting to paste from the buffer, on the order of 5+ seconds before the New Document dialog appears.

Also, in previous versions of PS, when I pressed Command+N, a new blank document sized to match the copied file's dimensions would be ready to accept the data (Command-V). I could chain the commands, as if Type-Ahead was enabled; Command+N+Command+V.

In 2017.0.1, when pressing Command+N, the New Document dialog opens, with a blue border around a document type called 'Clipboard." An additional step is required to import from the clipboard -- Return -or- click the Create Button, followed by Control-V. However, Type-Ahead is not enabled; one has to wait until after the Return or Create before the Command-V is detected and data brought in from the buffer.

Hi.  I am not a Mac user, so of limited help to you, but your thread was slipping down the page with no answers.  Please don't be afraid to bump it if it does slip off the first page.

What have you tried so far?

Is this a new behaviour, or has it existed since the last update?

Is 10.105 the latest Yosemite version?

Have you restarted your computer? (sorry but have to ask)

Do you have any extensions or third party plug-ins installed?  Start Photoshop while holding down the Shift key to force it to load without those plugins.

Regards the slow 'New Document' behaviour, I am fairly sure I am seeing the same thing on Windows 10 on a six core system with 32Gb and fast Scratch drives.

Have a look at Jeff Tranberry's Troubleshooting Guide, and hopefully someone with better Mac knowledge will be along.  I have edited your Subject line to show this is related to OSX

Having typed out all the above, I'll add that 'No Open Document' sounds like a scripting error to me, and they are usually fixed by reinstalling.  I'd run the Cleaning Tool as well if it were me...   just in case.
