photoshop CC 2017 problem: select and mask does not work

Hi, I have windows 10 and the Photoshop CC 2017 version installed. When I use "select and mask" tool, the program always show an error message: "this tool cannot be used because the disk error".

I have  searched and tried almost all solutions shown in the Forum for the similar errors occurred in the PS older version, but none works so far for the PS CC 2017 version.  I have uninstalled and installed PS; I have changed the folder name and reset the preference file, nothing worked.

Please help! I have spent so much time, and really need to solve this bug!

Hello, glad to see that you are set for the moment, but I would recommend trying to update your display drivers, so that you would be able to use the graphic card acceleration, that is so useful in many cases...

Hello, this tool makes use of the graphic card, did you check this discussion: https://forums.adobe.com/message/9119905#9119905

Could you post the contents of help>system info to check if the drivers, photoshop, etc, are up to date?

Thanks for your help and link. The discussion you linked does solve my issue. To help others in future, I summarize solution below:

The final solution provided by smurphy2342 works for me:

1. Preferences > Performance,

2. under "Use Graphics Processor" section, click "advanced setting";

3. unselect ""Use OpenCL" option.

Note, do not unselect the "Use Graphics Processor".
