Photoshop CC 2017 save to web GIF error

I made my Steam artwork as a GIF (300 frames), and I want to export it as Web Legacy, but when I click on web legacy, an error pops saying: The operation could not be completed. (http://prntscr.com/m1n289 ) photo of that error.

Edit: I have Win 10.

Anyone has a fix for this? Please help.

As Jane has said, that is is not a Frame animation.  In fact it is a video in the timeline, so you can't export it as a GIF.

There is an icon that purports to convert a video timeline into a Frame Animation, but it only converts the frame under the CTI (Current Time Indicator).  Least ways it does not work for me.

To make a Frame Animation from a video:

Open Photoshop, and go File > Import > Video Frames to Layers

    That opens this dialog panel.

You can see the options for yourself, but you might want to think about the option I have boxed with the red highlight.

Video will probably run at 25FPS or 30FPS.  A GIF will only run at about 12FPS if  each frame is set to have no delay.   Setting Limit to Every ___  Frames to  2, will play at about the same speed, but it is not an exact thing.

Note you can select the first frame, and Shift click the last frame, and change the delay for  all frames in one operation.

Note  the animation  is unlikely to run as fast  in Photoshop as it will when exported as a Frame Animation (GIF) and run in a web browser.

Animated GIFs do not play until completely loaded in the web browser, and they can be quite big. So think about image size and number of frames.  I try to keep under 800 pixels wide, and 150 frames, but fewer frames is better.

There is precious little by way of decent tutorials for this stuff out there, and it is not an intuitive thing to learn.  It has taken me years to get where I am, and I still find myself working new things out.  You can't have sound with a GIF, and it can be a nightmare animating multiple objects in the same  GIF.     Adobe Animate is a much better tool for that sort  of thing, and has a range of output format options.

Save and export video and animations in Photoshop

Edit Photoshop video and animation layers

Trevor.Dennis, that’s a great answer — you are the animation expert! Can you also address the earlier answer about updating to the latest version “to see if it would help”. I can’t see how it would make a difference, even with my less extensive knowledge of animations in PS.

    Hi HBKEY

I don’t see 300 frames in your Timeline. I see one layer called Layer 1. Where are the 300 frames?

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear that, could you please try updating Photoshop to the latest version via Creative Cloud desktop app and let us know if it helps?

    Regards,
