Photoshop cc 2017 will show small navigator photo but not full size photo

I sit and wait - only a blank, black screen and no photo but the navigator will show a small version of the photo.

Have: imac, Yosemite 10.10.5, have heard file loss stories of OS/X upgrade so not doing that right now. 

Everything was working slowly - but working - until I upgraded Photoshop to 2017; Lightroom still works.

Hi evycolorado,

Please check that Navigator Zoom level is not set to minimum.Drag it to the right and check.

Thanks.  I'd changed the Navigator slider over and over.  Turns out the image part of the screen didn't flow to the 2nd screen, but was also not on the main screen.  Something changed the display part of the setup, even though I restarted PS several times.  Still very slow.  Want to go back to the previous version.
