Photoshop CC 2018 unusably slow, brush lagging, Windows 10
Hi Adobe,
The problem started gradually. With some problem solving I’ve discovered that the larger the document the more the lag. Here’s what I’ve tried so far.
- Restarting app/Updating
- Restarting computer
- Deleting Preferences using “Reset Preferences on Quit”, pain to reformat…
- Adjusting Memory Usage
- Adjusting Cache Levels
- Changed Scratch Disks
- Saving to my SSD as well as my usual TB drive.
- Decreasing History Remembered Count
- Using the program Offline (no Ethernet connected to my PC)
- Running as Administrator
- Turning off Font Preview
- Changing Autosave every n minutes
- Run with only Photoshop running on my computer
- Running in 8-bits/channel mode (normal)
- Purged Memory
- Disabled Rulers
I’m exhausted.
My PC is pretty powerful (it’s 3 years old, but I got it for video work/videogames). Yesterday I had Dell run a full system diagnostic. End all unnecessary processes, clean up all temporary files, etc, etc..
But Photoshop is still terribly slow even though Efficiency reads at 100%!
The only features I’ve been using are the brush tool, bucket tool, select tool and the lasso tool, with some fonts such as EmojiOne. On average I have documents 940x15000 (webcomics) with 300 to 800 layers organized in folders. BUT Photoshop CC 2018 still lags a little bit on a tiny 200x300 document with 1-2 layers.
I also use Photoshop CS5 and it is running smoothly. No lag or issues of any kind. It's not even updated. I would just use it, but I need the EmojiOne font included with Photoshop CC 2018, and I would like to use some of its features (Since I’m PAYING monthly for them).
Thank you for your help!
