Photoshop CC 2019 / 2018 problems

Hi photoshopers,

I'm quite new in this forum because since months (and years!) there was no single problem with photoshop..

Until yesterday! Since yesterday a few problems started...

And also since yesterday I updated Photoshop CC 2018 to Photoshop CC 2019. AND I also updated macOS to Mojave (version 10.14).

Yesterday I recognised the problem with the "busy cursor"... while I'm using Healing or Cloning but also Brush and Dodge & Burn..

Sometimes also reaction of brush is crazy slow. Or Cloning, sometimes there's not happening anything when i click. (both tablet or mouse)

This makes me so slow at working with photoshop. And I need photoshop daily. I'm a freelancer and I really need to work with photoshop.

Now I'm trying, I think cloning, D&B, brush and so on are working in PS 2018, but not sure, sometimes there are also lags and busy cursor there.

Today there was something new to me: after I was liquifying an image there were looooots of black and blue pixels in my picture. Especially in that area where I was transforming image. (both 2018 and 2019)

I made a screenshot for you just to show you my problem with actual version of photoshop. (or Mojave, I'm really not sure. Also was trying Photoshop CC 2018, SAME problems.. never had them before)

I'm not sure what the problem is, or which update destroyed the workflow, photoshop or Mojave. Or is it a combination of both?

Hope somebody can help me!

I use Photoshop mostly for sketching before bring the sketches into Illustrator. I have found that the brush lag issue with Photoshop 2019 is not as apparent in Grayscale as it is in CMYK and RGB. Maybe this will help someone out there. The other fixes listed such as turning off rulers did not show any change at all.

This seems to be strictly a Photoshop issue not Wacom as the brushes in Illustrator have no brush lag with my Intuos. Perhaps that's a vector thing.

I have exactly the same problems.....black dots after using Liquify, spinning wheel when using brushes, healing brush issues and now this CRAP I get when trying to cut a subject from the background.

Those artefacts around his face are not in the original image....this is just the work of the absolute rubbish that is Photoshop CC 2019.

SORT THIS RUBBISH OUT ADOBE!!!!!!!

It's Mojave, not CC2019. There's a new graphics framework in Mojave.

Well then Adobe should check with Microsoft,Apple and Linex to see if they are introducing anything new before releasing a new update. Its not like Adobe can run on its own platform without someone elses operating system.

How much does a few phone calls cost?

Its not like there are thousands of them to check with.

I canʻt help you with your specific problem but I just wanna vent: I F-ing HATE Photoshop CC 2018 & 2019. Both filled with bugs and like you, a freelancer, it slows me way down. I am considering returning to my much older iMac and OSX so i can use Photoshop CS5 again. Bugs with move tool, crop tool and assorted other things that, even if fixed, revert to same problem after a little while. Does Adobe even care or since they hold us over a barrel, they donʻt give a damn?

Just want to update people if they didnt know: update to the newest patch of mojave by checking your system preferences-software update and it fixes the liquify black artifacts!

I have the same problem when working in RGB. I found converting it to CMYK works fine. Pain in the ass but it's the only way around it I could find. Hope it works for you too! GL

I just uninstalled it.  I don't have time to figure out why a program I've been using for almost 20 years takes so long to open.  And I don't care to figure out work arounds like turning the ruler off when liquify is used.  I'm not disabling the graphics processor, Photoshop and Premiere are the only reasons I purchased that expensive card.  That is silly.  Opening a file over 100 mb's just starts the spinning wheel.  I have waited it out and it takes about 10 minutes to read the file.  I have a new Mac, lots of RAM and storage, and a decent dedicated graphics card.  Last night it worked well, but I had to wait for files to open.  They did work relatively fast once open.  However, I cannot stand the new 'save as' or saving files in general.  Something is wrong with it and I'm out until they fix it.  The good news is CC makes it easy to roll back to an earlier version.  Adobe should have a better release of this version in a month or two (I hope).   And ADOBE, please change the way the save and save as features work.  I do not know why I open a .jpeg file, crop it, and cannot save the jpeg with 'command s'.  Why does it turn into a PSD file when I have done absolutely nothing to the file except crop it.  It takes me 3 more steps to 'choose jpeg' format, remove the word 'copy' in the file name, save the file 'replace original file', then close the file as 'don't save your PSD file'?  OMG that is soooo irritating!

You're cropping with "hide pixels" instead of "delete pixels". This creates a floating layer which is not allowed in the jpeg file format specification.

OMgoodness. That is an easy fix. Thank you thank you! I love to save the

pixels, but it is easy to turn on and off when saving or final jpegs.

I've also been having the same issues - Loading cursor when using Erase and brush tools. A lot of lag. Buggy Shortcut keys.

I use photoshop every day for 10hrs each day - Illustration and painting mostly - so having it lag with brushes and eraser is pretty damn bad.

Ugraded both to CC 2019 and to OS Mojave in the same day.

Hi

Do you have the rulers enabled while you're using the brush tool, if so try CMD + R to hide them and see if that makes a differences to the brush lag/loading cursor

Huh, yes i had - It did the trick. Cheers!

Strange bug, any reason you think why the rulers would cause such lag?

Yep its doing the same thing to me for the liquify tool. It was creating black spots after editing. I did disable the graphics processor for the liquify part but that makes the process so damn slow. Its pretty impractical in my opinion since I too work with huge high res photos for work.

Also I get the loading cursor anytime I use the brush/erase tool and some others. I hope things get fixed soon or a work around because I edit photos for my job and this is pretty inconvenient.

^ my graphics card is different from the one listed in the adobe link of known issues for the mojave update.
I also updated to photoshop CC19 prior to the update like adobe recommended yet I am still having issues.
