photoshop CC 2020 issue - moving a layer leaves a double

Since the most recent update when I am moving a layer around the project window a ghost version is left behind. It is not clickable and doesn't show up in the layers panel. However, the double does show up on the export if I save as a jpeg or png. I am not hold alt and dragging. It also happens when I am switching fonts. Changing the layers gets rid of the double temporarily. Hardware is a mac mini running the catalina operating system, 16gm ram, 2.5 GHz intel i5, intel HD graphics 4000 1536 MB. I have attached a video of the issue

Check this: Go to 'Preferences - Performance' and check that 'Legacy Compositing' is turned off.

Update Photoshop. Legacy Composition is no longer even a choice in the latest version, so it seems you are not using the latest version. https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/legacy-compositing.html

I just yesterday started having the exact same issue. when i move a layer it leaves a ghost layer. the only way to make the ghost layer go away is to uncheck and recheck the background layer. however it also creates issue with blending.
