photoshop CC 2020 issue - moving a layer leaves a double

Since the most recent update when I am moving a layer around the project window a ghost version is left behind. It is not clickable and doesn't show up in the layers panel. However, the double does show up on the export if I save as a jpeg or png. I am not hold alt and dragging. It also happens when I am switching fonts. Changing the layers gets rid of the double temporarily. Hardware is a mac mini running the catalina operating system, 16gm ram, 2.5 GHz intel i5, intel HD graphics 4000 1536 MB.
