Hi

When I now insert a new layer and use the shortcuts to change layer colour CMD+Backspace and Alt+Backspace.

Alt+Backspace turns the layer white

CMD+Backspace turns the layer Grey and not Black.

I have updated Photoshop CC but the still have the same issue.

Has anyone had the same problem, is there a fix?

Many thanks

John

Figure it out..

My adjustment layers were affecting the background layer.  When I merged all the adjustment layers with the image, it was rectified.

Many thanks for your time.

Have a great remainder of the year.

In these cases the color applyed depends on the foreground and background color.

Please change the foreground and background color:

First understand that Cmd + Backspace fills with the  color of the Foreground swatch and Cmd Backspace fills with the color of the Background swatch.

What are the colors of those overlapping squares at the bottom of your Toolbar?

D = is the keyboard shortcut that sets the Default with black on the top left (Foreground) and white on the bottom right (Background).

In the Layers Panel, your Blend mode is Normal and Fill as well as Opacity is 100%. Your document is normally RGB/8.

Thanks for the reply.

You can see in the screen shot, the layer thinks it's black, the "Set foreground / background" sections are Black and White yet the actual layer in the middle of the screen is grey.
