I have just started to see the the issue, when saving as a PDF on a Windows 7, 64-bit set up.  for the avoidance of doubt (been spending too much time with lawyers :-)) this is a crash, not a hang.

I do have a workaround - flattening the image allows the save as PDF to complete....

If you can get the Adobe version of the crash report - the User GUID or Crash GUID would let me search for more info in our crash report database.

(the Adobe crash report has additional info beyond the Apple version)

Did you try looking up the faulting module name?

If you had, that would give you a hint.

My suggestion:  Get rid of that brand antivirus package.  It's junk.  I'm sorry if you were duped into paying money for it.

I don't know enough to solve your problem, but I can suggest something to try that might help or be a possible workaround, with only a small loss of functionality:

Go into Photoshop - Preferences - File Handling and disable Save in Background.  Restart Photoshop and test.

To pursue possible causes and solutions, some additional suggestions:

1.  Try removing all your 3rd party plug-ins (the Photoshop installation area Plug-ins folder should be empty).  If the problem goes away then potentially it's one of the plug-ins causing the problems.  You can add them back one at a time to isolate which one it is.

2.  Reset your Photoshop preferences to defaults by pressing and holding Command - Shift - Option while cold-starting Photoshop, then confirming the request to delete parameters.

Remember to Quit and restart Photoshop after making any settings changes, so as to be sure you're testing with the new settings.

Good luck.

Hi Noel,

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still getting multiple crashes when saving and have no idea why.

I was using CC and was saving after everything I did and it seemed to be crashing when I tried to save after changing a layer to Screen. So I opened it up in CS6 doing the same thing and it crashed again after I changed a blending mode...

Any idea how this can caue PS to crash on save?

Thanks,

Matt.

As a generic comment most crashes are due to drivers (GPU, printer, scanner) or 3rd party fonts, font managers, and plugins.  With a Mac you have no control over drivers.

Since you crash on thread one it could also be something in the OS.  I would try using the Apple disk utility to check and repair errors/permissions.
