Photoshop CC keeps selects layers that are clipped to the hidden layers

Hi,

I've been struggling using Photoshop CC when I use move tool and right click on a particular area where the layer I want to select.

This didn't happen in CS6.

Can anyone help me what I should change in preference in order to select only the visible layers?

Thank you for the detailed report.

Since CS6 we did change the functionality that you mention (as an example: we now exclude groups whose effective bounds are outside the click point).

We will take a look.
