Annoyingly, keyboard shortcuts work whether or not we know them or like them. Here's how it happened:

• To make the interface darker, press Ctrl + Shift + F1 (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + F1 (Mac)
• To make the interface lighter, press Ctrl + Shift + F2 (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + F2 (Mac)

You can also reset it as per Dave's intructions in Preferences.
