I have just purchased the "online" version of Photoshop. I am truly a beginner. I am attempting to create a group picture from individuals that I have cut from various files. My question is, "Can I put each individual in a unique layer for ease in manipulation during the creation?"

    Absolutely!

Create a new layer and drag/drop or paste your cutout onto that layer.

I also recommend converting each layer into a smart object to preserve its quality when scaling.

Right click on the layer and choose Convert to Smart object

Just a note that Adobe don’t make an online version of Photoshop, but some people trying to cash in on the name do. What did you subscribe to or buy?

Sorry, my  terminology was misleading. I purchased "Photoshop" from the Adobe website and downloaded the software from the Web. I pay $9.99 per month for the use of the software. I hope this clears up any confusion

Thank you so much "Wildcat54". I tried to fumble through it and was at the peak of frustration. I will give it a try tonight
