Photoshop - Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document

Im trying to open .NEF files on Windows 10 and getting this error message.
Same files open on different machine and even files that were used a day before without an issue is giving me this same error message now.
Any ideas?

The file may be damaged.

How did you transfer it to your local volume?

What camera type and ACR version are involved?
