Photoshop Crashes when Closing Files Windows 10

Hello,

I've had this issue for a while now, for several Ps versions in fact. I've done it all from reverting to a previous version of Ps, to resetting preferences, to reinstalling a clean windows on the same and different drives. I keep getting the same issue.

This is pretty inconsistent when it happens. I could have days where I work on several files through out the day and open and close many of them w/o a crash and other days it happens constantly. It happens when I open up multiple (different) files (minimum of 2), when I open up a smart object and close it (saving or not doesn't matter), or when I simply have several files open, work on 1 file, save and close it, boom crash.

I took the time to make a quick video, prepping the files because of NDA reasons, and showed how I was able to close 1 file but closing a 2nd file crashed Ps.

specs : windows 10 ; ryzen 5950x ; RTX 3090 ; 128 Gbs of ram ; several SSDs ; a 2 TB Raid 0 Volume

All the photoshop versions, 3 of them (2023/22/21), are all up to date.

@CShubert Strange. In the video I posted, I got the report and submitted. Admittedly I did not do click on the "Allow Adobe to send me...." check box but I did hit send. Anywho, I dont use the Save in Background Feature. I work with 10Gb+ files and cant afford any slow downs. So I have that feature turned off and save frequently especially when working with smart filters and brushing. I'll get you the system info soon.

@TheDigitalDog Ive done so in the past by hitting the reset on quit and when upgrading to the newest version 2022-> 2023, I made sure to use new fresh settings. I'll reset again and will get back to you in a few days or sooner.

Multithreaded Compositing - has been off this entire time, crashes with or without. Read that this off would help but it doesnt.

Advanced GPU settings - Use OpenCL and Anti-alias is turned on. I don thave a 30 bit display so that is off.

When Photoshop crashes, this is the first thing to do, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

If that doesn't fix the issue:
Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.
Still crashing?
Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Still crashing?

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
