Photoshop crashes while using scaling tool

Hi, 

 

I've experienced recently a lot of crashes while using the Photoshop scaling tool (old version).

 

Details: I shift four layers containing objects from one file to another. In the target file I need to scale down all four combined layers. While scaling Photoshop crashes, no time to safe anyting, within a split second the app is closed. Thing is, it happened with 23.5.2 first, then I uninstalled it an used the previous version, happend the same, also with 24.1.

 

Plattform iMac i9, 64 GB Ram, Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB, MacOS 11.7.2

Thank you. I'll try these options. But since the crash doesn't happen every time, it will need some time to check it.

When Photoshop crashes or freezes, this is the first thing to do, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

 

If that doesn't work, a few other areas to try: 

Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop. Better? 

 

If that doesn't work, Go back into Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Better? 

 

You can try this too: in Preferences>Technology Previews, check the box 'Deactivate Native Canvas' and uncheck 'Enable Native Canvas' options, then restart Photoshop. Does this work?

In addition: However, this doesn't happen every time.
