Photoshop crashing when changing two or more text layers at the same time

Question

Any time I try to chang the font, font size, or just about any aspect of two text layers at the same time (having both layers selected), PS crashes on me with a never-ending loading ring and "Application Not Responding Error".

Any ideas on why this might be?

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
