photoshop creative suit mac: feathering not working

Hi, Working with PS regularly but noticed today that the feather function is not working for clone stamp tool: So the clone is hard edged and 100% opacity regardless of the tool setings I select. If I select opacity below 50% it does nothing. Opacity selected above 50% gives 100% clone action.

Also noticed that there is no feathering if I select a section: Select- Modify-feather: No matter what feather size I select it does 0% feather.

Was all working fine yesterday.

And of course, need this to work asap, as usual...
