Photoshop CS5 - Sierra Update Issues

Not sure if I am explaining this properly but I am hoping someone can help.

Before I updated to Sierra (and I put it off as long as possible! =( Gosh how I HATE updates! ) I used to be able to go Save As> click on another file name> and it would take on that file name....now no matter what I click the file stays the same and I need to manually change the name. Let me give an example if the file name is Sample.psd and I am saving Sample 1.jpeg, Sample 2.jpes etc. I used to be able to click on Sample 2.jpg and change the 2 to a 3 now, no matter what I click the file name stays as sample and I have to manually space and add the 3. Can anyone help em restore it to how I had it before please?

Many thanks in advance!

That's probably partly adobe and partly apples fault.

Adobe because photoshop cs5 hasn't been updated to work with Sierra and most likely never will, which is understandable because cs5 is legacy out of date software and apple because they deprecate or change a lot of the code in the os that photoshop cs5 was using to function properly.

It's possible that apple will fix some of the bugs that affect older applications, but then they may not.

I don't understand when you say you waited as long as possible to update to Sierra.

What was wrong with your older mac os?

All that being said there is a similar post over at photoshop.com that you can follow or comment on:

Photoshop: Can’t replace a file by just clicking on the old one on macOS Sierra | Photoshop Family Customer Community

Also try the different finder views, i.e icons, list or columns.
