I'm unable to click on the advanced drawing mode on my cs6 extended

Adobe Help defines the drawing modes as: shape layers, paths, and pixels. What is "advanced drawing mode"? A screen shot may help for those of us who haven't used CS6 for a while so we can see the issue.
