Photoshop degrades my raw images on import

When I import images into camera raw it's fine but when I open them in photoshop, photoshop drastically degrades the images. however when I export the degraded images, they export in full resolution but it's almost impossible to retouch with the degraded state.

Hi Damian. Could you please elaborate a little more on your workflow. From what I can tell you are saying that your images look like rubbish in Photoshop but they are exporting out nicely.

 

Running along the bottom of Camera Raw is an underlined block of text. Clicking on it will open up a dialog box which includes Workflow settings. These settings will dictate how your files are opened in Photoshop. Could you post a screen shot or post the details for things like Colour Space and Depth as well as any Image Resizing if it is active. Cheers.
